Band new hp vista notebook. I upgraded memory to 2 gb. But still only like 35mb free in physical memory on task manager? I thought a memory upgrade would help?

Two gigs is plenty. Check the task manager to see what % of your memory is available. Don't pay to much attention to what is left in the system Physical Memory box. Mine says that I only have 35 megs free, but it also says that I'm using 44%. As you can see, these numbers do not agree. If you subtract the amount of memory being used from the amount that is installed, you have plenty left over for your applications.

Vista is a memory hog, plain and simple. Also, did you double-check to make sure the machine recognizes the RAM? My new laptop came with Vista, but I ditched it.
