How can I get my old computer that is running Windows ME to boot from the disk drive first?

You need to enter setup- but the key is usually not the f8 key...It may be f1 key it may be del key or possibly f10 key. Depending on what type of computer you have. It could even be some key I haven't mentioned....If your computer says press ____ to enter setup that is what you need to do and usually before the POST beep. If it is an hp I believe it is the f1 key that is the setup key and you would open the option that allows you to change the boot sequence... just use the keyboard to move around in there when you open a screen that has the boot sequence options and follow the on screen information to change things in there. Assuming you are talking about a floppy disk I hope. You need to change the boot order in BIOS from the 1st fixed disk (hard drive) to your floppy drive. Using F8 is a way to do that but, I assume you want to boot to floppy most the time instead of the HD.

steps:
1.restart your system.
2.press f8 or del key before the system boots.. u ll enter into bios.
3.use your keyboard to select the booting section.
4.change the first boot device to disk drive( initially the first boot device is your hard disk)
5.then press exit to boot your system.
6.then ur display show this message " press a key to boot from disk drive"
7.u have press any key to boot from disk drive

You'll need to get into the BIOS. When it first starts booting up, press F10, Esc or sometimes F2. It should go into BIOS. Should be a setting in there to select which to boot to first.

when its starting up hit F8 until you get to the bios then change it in there.
