Thanks for the answers I received from my first question " Dell Server upGrade? " Now, my problem is that I am attempting to install a fresh Windows 2000 Server Version and my C: drive is not found and the installation is cancelled....Do I need to replace the drive [the original is just 3g] before I can install? I have no problems doing this but I want to proceed slowly and not waste any efforts...thanks again rroe_77

The problem may be a couple of things. First, is the drive seen by the server at bootup (posting) it should show when the system does a scsi scan on the PERC controller. If so, it next could need the PERC controller driver so that when the software goes to start the install, it knows what and where to look for the drive. This is done using f6 at the begining of the install. If that isn't the case, then the next question would be if there are multiple drives and if they are in raid configuration. If so, has the container been setup or setup correctly.

If possible, I strongly suggest changing the size of the drive from the default 4 gig partition size... 4 gig is definitely not enough. I believe the PE 2400 came with 16s so I would go 8 and 8 instead of the default 4 and 12.

I know with Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP you have to press F6 when setup starts to add drivers for SCSI drives. If your server has SCSI drives, you need to do this.
