If Its windows 98SE, ME, XP or windows Vsta you want to install, pop in the CD and 'press any key to start setup.." as it says on boot-up.
If its 98/95 etc. you'll have to enjoy DOS and the use of floppies and direct commands (this was whipped out during Windows 98SE and Windows ME though some of those version may still require it)
For Linux and Unix, its the same process. pop the CD in.
PS: if you have a counterfeit CD, it must have the stepping codes for installation - if not, you can only use it to upgrade current systems.
PPS: if you still have problems, press delete, or F3-F8 at boot-up to enter BIOS, and change boot sequence from HD as primary, to CD as Primary so the ocmputer checks the CD first.

Boot the computer from the installation CD. From there, it will walk you through the steps of formatting and partitioning your hard drive (if necessary), and installing Windows.
