1. A high speed of execution. What would take more staff and more time to do is done faster. (Note: The inherent disadvantage of this is that the staff you don't need is sacked, hence creating unemployment)

2. Accuracy of operations. E.g, drawing using a computer software is more accurate than hand-drawing.

3. Data sorting is also much more reliable and can be easily performed and corrected if needed.

4. Large storage capacity. This means that less material and less space is needed for storing data.

5. The access of data is serial (random) so data is retrieved instantly.

6. Tireless workers. Computers work 24/7 without getting tired, so without the need for rest.

7. The internet allows us to communicate faster than anything before it. Emails are exchanged in a matter of seconds.

By using a computer children develop self-confidence and self-esteem as they master computer skills and use the computer to make things happen. This also gives them a reason to smile!

Children are learning to read and write with computer games instead of homemade flash cards.

The Internet offers you lots of chances to plan your purchases of everything from books to weddings!

There are many learning opportunities available to you including workbooks, CD-ROMs and on-line.

Using a spreadsheet (eg MS Excel) can help you do calculations and keep up-to-date accounts.

Planning vacations: Use the Internet to search for flights, accommodation or up-to-date information about your destination.

Medical records: Multiple clinicians can access a patient's record simultaneously from many locations. With the recent advent of secure data transmission over the web, clinicians can now review and edit patient records from anywhere in the world.
