Yesterday, a particularly cold night. (I was only wearing PJ's and a thin denim jacket) I caused a minor collision with the car in front of me, at a stop light. The car I bumped was a 2004-2006 Red Mustang.
We pulled over and decided not to get insurance involved. The lady said that she was advised to settle for $100 bucks and that she would eat whatever (if any) difference.
There was damage to the top of her fender, which I believe was fiberglass. About 3-5 inches of black scrapes that didn't seem to come off when we tried to buff them. They may have been a bit deep. There was obvious scratches to the bottom fender, that were a little deeper than those previously mentioned. Of course, I got it in writing that no further action would be pursued.
It was certainly a gamble to settle on the spot. I believe there was a greater chance that the cost would have been larger if she got quotes first, what do you think?
