Looks like I stripped 1 lug nut on my car's wheel while changing to winter tires. Does anyone know a trick to removing a stripped lug nut? My local garage wants 1 hour labour + parts (approx. $100) to remove this. I don't have any special mechanics tools. I have tried WD-40 but did not help. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I heard the motor trying to work, and stopped X3 to get them moving, but no joy, before tonight, the wipers working fine (not slow, or any delay), of course tonight wx <30, snow and freezing rain earlier (wipers worked ok then) anything I can do before I take it to the shop?

I have a Haynes for the mentioned vehicle. after reading about draining the tank and using a quick disconnect tool to get the lines off the top of the tank, is it just as easy as
1) Drain tank.
2) unbolt plate beneath tank
3) disconnect lines using tool
4) drop tank
5) take out old pump
6) put in new pump
7) restrap tank
8) bolt back on plate.

or are there other things i should be aware of? any and all help is appreciated! thanks!

I took my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee to a dealer because it has been cutting off and/or losing power. My regular mechanic couldn't seem to find the problem, so I took it back to the dealer who recently replaced a recalled PCM.

They found a problem w/a wire that goes to a distributor. Of course they were a little vague, saying they needed to order the part and it will cost me about $345 w/labor. The distributor is new.

Question -- how long would a diagnostic like that take? I got the impression that they saw a code by way of the PCM. Does that take a full hour at $120/hour? I thought everything was digital to get to the problem by computer and a lot faster. Of course I do not want to be charged for an hour of diagnostic if it only took 15 minutes for them to find the problem.

I drive a 97 Mitsubishi gallant 4cyl, its manual with a hydraulic clutch, I had a problem in the past, ran out of hydraulic fluid without realizing it, filled it up and bleeded out the air just by pumping it and continue using it, but before it went out I noticed a stain by the pedals, dark color, like oil, and now it runs out a little to fast I think, and it was really slippery by my feet, bent down and it looks like I'm leaking some kind of black fluid down there, if its my clutch leaking fluid or something what exactly is wrong and how much to fix it? FYI I put brake fluid in it herd its the same thing.

I always thought that you were supposed to disconnect the positive but that just leaves the grounded negative attached. Wouldn't this drain the battery even more?

I think it is a wiring problem. I used to be able to wiggle the wires to get it to work, then the bulbs blew out, i bought new ones but theres no point in putting them in if they are just going to blow again. I suspect maybe a bad ground, but honestly i just dont know anymore. any suggestions would be helpful. thanks.

I recently had a clunking noise coming from the front end of my 2005 Dodge Caravan. A guy I work with told me it was my Sway Bars and volunteered to change them for me. I called Car Quest and the parts were $52 for both. I told him I would have to save up more money to pay him, but had enough for the parts. He told me not to worry about it. I ended up paying him $25 which was all I had (period). It didn't fix the clunking noise, so the next week he changed the Sway Arm Bushings. Part cost was $8.

He keeps telling me that I owe him big time and that he saved me TONS of money. I feel really bad and want to skip some bills (electric, cell, cable, ect) anything, to pay him. I knew I would pay him eventually what he said it was worth, but he's just being annoying about it now. Calling me all the time telling me how much I owe him. But he won't give me a price. So I ask you please! Tell me how much a dealership or mechanic would charge so I can pay him off and get him outta my hair!

It had an alarm when I got it but it was added on, not made by acura. I lost the remote 2 years ago and never used the alarm since. The switch was off, and I had no problems. Suddenly 2 nights ago somebody borrowed the car and the motor wouldn't start. it does not turn over just sort of makes a clicking sound and when I take out the key the alarm goes off, even if the switch is off! what should I do?
