I ran the code and it is PO128. It said coolant temp. below thermostat regulated temp. I think my thermostat is stuck open. Does my car have one and if so where is it located on my car I can't find it?

what the guy above me said, and if it's not the thermostat then change the sensor and that should fix your problem

It's near the water pump and located right under the exhaust manifold. Too much to get into here, get a shop manual. Replacing the thermostat on an Ecotec motor is a hassle but not that difficult if you have the proper tools. I would make doubly sure it's the thermostat before getting into it.

Follow the top radiator hose from the radiator to the engine, where the radiator hose stops, lies the thermostat.......couple of bolts to take it out, pop in the new one, and you should be good to go, assuming that the thermostat is your problem. It could possibly be the sensor, but you are definitely on the right track.

Before buying any parts, you should do some testing first.

Take the thermostat out and heat it in water on the stove.

See what temperature it opens at.

Hang the sensor in water, while heating it monitor its resistance as the temperature climbs.

(Don submerge the entire sensor, just the end of it)

These tests would cost $0.00 to do, and save you from buying parts you dont need.

I just had my heater core replaced. Now my temperature light comes on. Is it just coincidence, or could it have been damaged by the heater core going bad?
