Where is the power valve and what does it look like. The carb is 1 year old. and I took it off tonight and took the front bowl off and cleaned it and the front plate, blew out all the holes i could see and cleaned out the accellerator pump diaphram. but when i re accemble it i cant get a drop of fuel out the barrels. it does fill with gas corrrectly and the float is fuctioning correctly.

With the bowl off the accellerator pump does push gas out the little hole at the bottom if you push the lever, untill it depletes its small supply. but when i put it back together and fill it with gas. No gas is seen exiting the carb

The newer version of the Holley four barrel has a little pink umbrella in the fuel bowl accelerator pump cavity. It acts as a one way valve. If the umbrella is damaged or missing, gas in the accelerator pump reservoir will just shoot back into the bowl instead of going through the pump circuit. You may also have a ruptured accelerator pump diaphragm which if damaged, won't push gas through the circuit. UPDATE: You're talking about separate circuits. First, regardless of anything else, even if the jets are plugged up solid, if there is fuel in the bowl, the accelerator pump should still operate. (I have the double pumper on my own car and 35 years Holley experience so I'm no stranger to swearing up a storm at them) The gas goes from the bowl into the pump cavity. From there is gets pushed through a hole in the metering block (The small hole at the bottom and the thin bowl gasket has a cutout for it) Fuel travels up to the center of the metering block (you can see an outline of the passage) where it crosses over into the main body. There is usually a check ball or a weight under the shooter. That's to prevent gas from dripping out or being sucked out by venturi action when air passes down the throat. The weight or check ball lifts out of the way when fuel come in under pressure, and gas comes out the shooter nozzle. So regardless of any other problems you might be having, the accelerator pump system is a "stand alone" system and if there is fuel in the bowl, it should still work. E mail me if you need to discuss this further but check the circuit as I have outlined first before you start messing with other circuits.

You said you blew out the ports you could see. What about the ones you can't see? There are many. You have to take your time and go through the whole thing circuit by circuit. You have obviously pulled up some junk from somewhere, and its blocking the thing up. After you've thoroughly cleaned and tested each circuit, don't put it back on the car until you've changed all the filters, screens, whatever.

check the float level,ti may be shuttin off to soon. if ya dont have a specs sheet, turn the carb upside down and adjust the float till the top of it is level with the top of the bowl, should be close.
