This question is about a 98 Honda Accord V6. A "whirring" noise began under the hood. I suspected that it was the power steering drive belt, because the sound seemed to come from that, and the whirring fluctuated when I turned the steering wheel.

While examining the power steering motor's belt, I looked down and noticed that the other belt is not moving at all.

The V6 Accord of this year has 2 belts; 1 goes from the flywheel to the power steering pump. The other is a serpentine belt that goes to everything else. The power steering belt is moving and seems fine.

So, why isn't the serpentine belt moving? By hand it feels quite stuck, but when the car is running, all systems seem to be working perfectly.

I should hear bad squealing and smell rubber burning, but I don't. I hear just that slight "whirring."

How can that belt not be spinning on the pullies, yet the systems seem to be OK?

I hope some of you car gurus are reading today!

It it a 1993 Buick Regal Custom 3.8L. Engine. I had my head gasket replaced after I had blown it. I also had a tune up and oil change performed on it. I also replaced the thermostat. It skips really bad after I put it in drive. Someone told me to mix some Lucas oil with some 10w40 oil and that should fix the skipping.

i own a 2001 Daewoo Nubira CDX. my rear bumper is in need of replacement. i have looked all across the internet and have failed in my attempts to find a site to purchase a new rear bumper. so i have a few questions:

where can i find a place to purchase a new stock rear bumper?
where can i find a place to purchase an aftermarket rear bumper?
would it be possible to purchase an aftermarket rear bumper made for another type of car for my car? if so, which type of car should i look at?

all help is appreciated.

is it poss to have a faulty temp gadge this is a long one but bear with it there is a point

recently having problems with over heating in a 95 corsa sri 16v thought it was a rad job but now starting to think gadge is faulty i was on the road yesterday car was running for bout 10mins if that and the temp went to 100 so pulled over switched her off and left her about 2-3 mins switched ignition on to see where we were up to and the temp had gone down to below 90 in 2-3 mins. so off we went again on motorway doing 70-80mph and temp went straight up to 100 again so pulled on to hard shoulder by the time i had stopped (which wasnt very long when u think your car is gonna blow) the temp had gone right back down to below 90. now on all the times she has over heated never seen any steam at all. does every one agree ifs a faulty gadge or is there some thing im missing????????????

I have a 99 Hyundai Elantra that the airbag light stays on. My hubby is no mechanic and has no idea how to fix this. Is this something that we can fix? Or do I need to take this to the dealership? I was thinking could it be the fuse? I have not had an accident in this car. Anyone know anything about this?

I put adjustable Koni's on my '96 T-bird which is lowered with 2" Eibach Pro Kit springs. Aside from it being my own preference, what would be the scientific method of adjusting my front struts and rear shocks to get the "correct" balance going in my favor? Softer/harder in front or the back? I like it on the firm side and have all 4 set identical as of now at a half or 1 turn from the firmest setting. Common sense tells me I should have the struts in front set at least a 1 or maybe a half turn softer than in the rear. Am I right or should it be the other way around?

Need the '89 Olds Cutlass Cruiser 4 door Station Wagon Driver's door, the one with a single electric window mechanism, no fly window model, and am having a terrible time finding one. My best buddy backed in to my work vehicle, and I need it to look tidy for client presentations.
This will have to happen, "out of pocket" because the insurance company would total the car for it's blue book value, the repair alone for the single door is greater than the Kelly Blue Book value!!!
I have more in the radio, radiator, muffler and tires than the car is "worth"! But it runs like a top! No reason to scrap it--the gouge is too deep for bondo, too crooked to suction or magnetize back out, and the skin they make today is too thin compared to the weight of the metal of the '89 auto construction.
In 30328 and need a replacement door from a junk yard or dealer in this sort of thing.
I appreciate any leads or websites one may know of, Thanks!

My 97 Cherokee dies, just shuts off (no power steering, no fans, just the engine shuts off dead) now I still do have power to the radio, lights and it seems most thing electrical. i did just replace the fuel pump and sending unit a few weeks ago and this problem started right after. I do know that would be the most obvious cause of this problem but before i lowered the tank and sent in this part and wait for a new one I thought I ask see if it could be anything other than that. I have seen other post about fuel pumps, vapor lock problems and I will take a look all the hoses.
Any thoughts would be great

I have an intermittant starting issue on a Buick Regal. I checked for power at the starter solenoid when the key was in crank, but no dice. Most vehicles have a starter relay that is energised by the key which in turn energised the starter solenoid. Does anyone know where this may be located? I can't find it.

I've heard that it is not good to shift from reverse to drive while still moving, yet I see people do it all the time. Is it better for the transmission/engine to come to a complete stop before shifting gears?

hi,
i have a 1976 dodge b300 1ton motorhome, i recently took a 5.9L 360 engine out of this because the block was cracked, bought from a junkyard what was surpose to be a 360 but was a 318 , found that out after i got home(i know a 318 will move this motorhome because we had a bigger motorhome with a 318 in it awhile ago), i rebuilt it with 318 parts, put it in the motorhome and it runs fine, no smoke, it has a carb. all the vaccum lines are hooked up to where they are surpose to be, used every vaccum diagram i could find and did it over and over again, it is times with a timing light, rpms are set to the they are surpose to be but everything i put it in gear the rpms lower and when i go to push the gas pedal all it does is NOTHING!!! engine drops rpms more then if i hold the gas pedal long enough the engine stalls out. there is no crack in the block i hope, no oil in the water or water in the oil. any ideas to what is causeing this????

We had a local mechanic put in a new transmission about 5k miles ago. A couple weeks later, we noticed it leaking, so we took it back and he fixed it since the tranny work was under warranty. We noticed it leaking again though and he has since fixed it again! Now, a week later, my wife goes to drive the van and when she starts it up all of the dash lights go on and won't turn off. She turns off the car and restarts it, but now when she shifts to drive and presses on the gas it goes in reverse--slowly. she shut it off again, waited a few minutes, then tried again. This time it worked.

Is this the tranny again? Either Honda has terrible trannys, my mechanic made a mistake, or I am dealing with a shady mechanic. Our friends have used him before without problems, but...

Help! Thanks!
