The car is driven about 150 miles per week. Last year, I replaced the disks, rotors, and calipers. I don't want to wait until worn disks start to bite up the rotors again. Right now, the breaks still work fine, but I can tell they are beginning to wear down.

Don't know if it matters, but the car is a 1992 Olds Cutlass Supreme, 6 cylinder

My husband and I bought a car over the summer. It was a used car, as is, with no warranty. We had it financed. We wanted to take it out to a mechanic to have him look at it but he assured us that his mechanics at the dealership had looked at it and everything was fine. Once we got into the car we realized the driver seatbelt didnt work. Dont ask me why, but i have no idea why we didnt say anything - I was running late for work. We get back on the highway and the car starts cutting out on us. We pull off at the side of the road and call back and he just tell us that it just needs to be driven around. Now, 3 months later, we have more problems and find out that the frame is completely rusted out and is given a life span of about 3 or 4 more months. We still owe $2 - 3,000, or about 12 more months of payments. Any suggestions as to what we should do??

When I turn left, it feels like the tire is rubbing up against the wheel well and I don't know if I need a smaller tire, or if something is seriously wrong. Thank you for your assistance.

it all started with the motor going through some very thick mud at very low speeds, water outtake was flowing poorly at one point completley stopped, got water to flow by cleaning the outtake with a bottom bouncer(thin wire), dont know if the power head overheated and caused damage, two weeks later took the boat out it took a while to start and went off then motor started to shake and stalled, kept doing this in forward but in reverse it ran and then after multiple tries and waiting a while the motor ran in forward at low speeds fine. after the initial difficult start it started fine each time when it would stall. was wondering if it could be the water pump or if it is very serious and should get a dealer to look at it. thanks for any info.

Yesterday morning someone shattered my moms driver side window into little pieces (small) most of the window was still intact w.the frame. My friend told me that it must have been done w/a spark plug-cuz it makes no noise & it breaks windows in small pcs. I go to bed at 1am, & that night I slept down stairs (being able to hear EVERYTHING thru the garage)-I heard NO sound of breaking glass, to top it off I have 2 lil chighuaguas (fisty lil things) they didnt even bark- Could it have been a spark plug ?

I have a toyota highlander 2004. I can hear some grinding sound when breaking or trying to stop while running at low speed but not while running at high speed. It appears that break pads are not the problem as their remaining thickness in my last maintenance service is still around 40%. Is this normal or what could possibly the problem of my car?

I plan to buy, and learn to drive a car with a manual transmission, but I'm a bit worried about the cost to replace the clutch over and over. From what I know, I'm assuming when you, "burn out the clutch," your in fact burning out the clutch disks. So about how much would it cost to replace the disks, as opposed to replacing the entire clutch?

My '98 Mercury Villager is giving me all kinds of trouble. The most recent is the squealing in the back brakes. When I brake, they squeal really loud and painfully. And on top of that, this morning while driving to work, I noticed that the ABS light came on. Are the two related? And is it a critical issue that needs to be fixed immediately? I'm trying to save up for a new car, because this one is really ready to kick the can, but I don't want to drive the thing around and not get it fixed if I'm putting safety on the line.

I've been working with a friend for the past few months on switching the engine out of one '91 F150 into another.

Yesterday we finally got everything alligned, replaced the spark plugs, replaced the starter, put in a new thermostat, hooked up the celenoid, etc. and put in a new battery. Then we put gas in and tried to start her up.

We know we're getting power and spark but don't think any gas is going from the tanks to the engine. We read the manual and found the Fuel Line reset button in the cab by the clutch. Reset it. Tried again but nothing happened. The engine seems like it's trying to turn over but we don't smell gas.

What could be going wrong?

The only thing we can imagine is that maybe the fuel lines we attached have heat sealed too tightly over the valves or we've clamped them too tightly and so no gas is getting into the engine? They're on so tight that we can't pull them off by hand and would have to cut them.

I have basic mechanical knowledge. I have a 99 volkswagon jetta 5spd manual. Car has been running great until today when I started it up all the cylinders weren't firing which I assumed because it was idling really rough and having a hard time moving in first gear. Check engine light came on while in nuetral and began flashing when I put it in gear. What I'm hoping is good news is that I just bought some gas, ran it for 5 miles, stopped for an hour came back out and this happened. Do you think it is bad gas? What else could it be? How do I prove and get the gas station to pay for that if it is their fault?

YESTERDAY
I was driving my 1987 Chevy Suburban yesterday, around the ninth block traveled, it died. I was only going 20-25 mph in my neighborhood. At the ninth block the electrical things like the radio died out then the engine shut off. The brakes lhad locked up. Fortunately I could start right away and drive it back home

TODAY, now the truck isn't working. I started it a couple times at first but it had to turnover for awhile. But once it was running it would shake and the truck shut off by itself again. I started it again, and when I gave it gas while in park the power would die and the truck would shut off. Then I tried to start again, but now it would take really long to start up, but then would die right after. And when it did it sounded like the serpentine belts were getting stuck, or something (i dont know) - something was not right.

NOW it starts up fast, but it dies right away

let me know if you are a real mechanic or just guessing so I really know what to do Thank

I have a 1988 Ford Ranger. I recently have done some work to my truck and removed some bolts. These bolts have years worth of dirt and rust on them (about 75% dirt 25% rust) is there any chemicals that I can soak these in to remove the dirt and rust. Please only recommend chemicals that I can buy at an auto store such as Advance Auto Parts or O'Reilly's Auto Parts.
