my car picks up very slow. when you press on the gas pedal from a stop, it picks up very slow as if something was clogged in the intake. but there is nothing in the way from the throttle body to the air filter. just solid piping. what else could be causing such a lag of air flow? is there something to clean the throttle body or intake manifold?

I have a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan for which I recently replaced a burned out head light for the driver's side lens. I did not realize that there was any adjusting required until I had to use the lights. The headlight now shines high and a little to the right. How do I go about fixing the problem?

Thanks.

It started about 4 months ago. I went out shopping, and when I tried to start my car to head home, it wouldn't start. I sat there, trying not to panic, and tried it again after about 5 minutes. It started right up. Since then it has continued to do that randomly, sometimes with me sitting for up to 15 to 30 minutes. The radio and air comes on, but it doesn't turn over and start. I took it to a mechanic, he says as long as it is cranking for him he can't fix it. So I have to just be stranded, and continue to try the switch. I have 2 children, and a fear that we will be somewhere, and it won't start up. What can I do if the mechanics tell me that they can't fix something that's not broke? And nothing shows up on the diagnostic machine, and the check engine light is not on? There is no indication that it will do it. And as I said, it will eventually start up for me. It's so scary and I just get paralyzed every time I turn it off....thinking will it start up again.

I have a 4L60E Transmission with about 115,000 miles on it. Always used regular tranny oil and so far its held up just fine.

But I have had some mods done to my LT1 engine. NOt HUGE but still quite a bit and I have a Edge 3000RPM Stall Converter. I thought these small converter were "suppose" to create less heat but I find the tranny temps nearing 230-250.

So my question is. It has used regular ATF fluid but what if I change it out to Trick Shift or Royal Purple ATF. I have heard that it might cause leaks but ill try anything just to prolong my tranny's life you know?(thought about Tranny Cooler but I want to try the oil first). With all that heat I just want to make sure it has the best protection it can and that it performs the way I want it to.

what do you guys think?

Thanks!

I have a 1988 Chevy Cavalier, which according to a certified mechanic needs motor mounts. At a traffic light the steering wheel shakes a lot. Yet he says it's not a safely issue, but it seems to have gotten worse. My question is how much do you think it will cost to replace? He did not tell me either because they are too difficult to replace or he didn't want to do it. There are three mounts. And it seems to shake more and more everyday. It's gotta be a safety issue. Please , anyone? TY

My buddy has a 1970 F 100 with a 289 atleast he claims it is. I think its a 302 but he just bought a 600 cfm Holley carburetor and we cant seem to get the car to idle below 1200 RPMs. We have richen and leaned the carb nothing works and also when he goes to give it some gas on the road it boggs out then accelerates. Fuel filer we changed and fuel pump is 2 months old. Fuel pressure is at 5 psi. Could the carb be faulty and need to be returned? Or could it be something simple. O yea we checked the timing its ok and motor is good. NO vacuum leaks any where we are confused.

I want to use Mobil1 (or any other fully synthetic), but I need an oil filter that will last 15-20, 000 km. Is K&N the only way to go for long lasting oil filters? How long can you run Mobil1 with a good filter; 15 000km?

I recently bought a 1968 mustang. I wanted to upgrade the headlights since they were horable so I chose HID since they only consume 35 watts vs halogens at 55+. The problem is, my headlights won't turn on unless they get a consistent 12 volts. If I turn on my headlights when the engine isnt running and reved very high so the alternator is kicking lots of voltage back to the battery, they wont turn on. THen when I am sitting at idle for more than a minute or so, the volts will slowly go back down and the headlights will shut off (sometimes only one, but sometiems both). Then I have to turn the headlights off, rev way back up and then turn them back on. How can I ensure my electrical system stays at a consistent 12+ volts? Do I need a better alternator? Do I need a new battery? Do I need some compacitors or something?

Thanks!

My car is pulling visciously to the right and the outside of my right front tire is baled. If I were to get a wheel allignment would it still affect how my car steers with that bad wheel on the right front of my car? The tire wear is on the outside of my tire and is pretty smooth and almost bare.
