today i was taking off my heat shield that is on the exhaust manifold, and when i was taking it off. it hit the starter. once it hit the starter a yellow spark flashed. later when i went to start the car. it wouldnt start at and no lights or electrical stuff came on. but after some few seconds they came on. what kind of damage did i do to my car?

Probably nothing, if it starts now. what you did was cause a short circuit (there's a big wire from the pos terminal to your starter at full amperage)

You may have a loose wire down there, and/or the heat shield has grounded that wire. the only damage would be to your battery...

Check your positive cable and follow to starter and check to see if anything got loose.

you may have blown a fuse or a fusible link, gm uses these right off of the starter solenoid.

you caused a short circuit........this will send a thermal shock thru associated wiring............insure clean & tight connection,s......check for any burnt insulation......chance,s are your ok......but check connection,s.
