My buddy has a 1970 F 100 with a 289 atleast he claims it is. I think its a 302 but he just bought a 600 cfm Holley carburetor and we cant seem to get the car to idle below 1200 RPMs. We have richen and leaned the carb nothing works and also when he goes to give it some gas on the road it boggs out then accelerates. Fuel filer we changed and fuel pump is 2 months old. Fuel pressure is at 5 psi. Could the carb be faulty and need to be returned? Or could it be something simple. O yea we checked the timing its ok and motor is good. NO vacuum leaks any where we are confused.

1968 was the last year for the 289ci,however the engine may have been changed. Make sure the choke isnt hanging up.

accel pumps are plugged or leaking, and you still may have a vacuum leak.
