How do I adjust a newly replaced headlight so that it shines on the road and not up in the trees?

I have a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan for which I recently replaced a burned out head light for the driver's side lens. I did not realize that there was any adjusting required until I had to use the lights. The headlight now shines high and a little to the right. How do I go about fixing the problem?

You should NOT have to do ANY adjustments, make sure you installed it right, they have three grooves were you insert them and then twist, sometimes you only inser two the correct way and it looks like is correct but NOT, if this is not your case, look around the plastic casing on the headlight you should have 2 or 3 screws for adjustment, they are not flat head nor Phillip, they are like a star shape (i don't remember the name for those screws, but i think they are "star"), adjust them as need it, but if you only take an old one and replace it for a new one i don;t think you have to do this, but GOOD LUCK!!!

You replaced just the bulb? Maybe it isnt seated correctly. Most cars do have headlight adjustments but unless you hit something with that part of the car it shouldnt ever need that much of an adjustment. Look around under the hood in the vicinity of the mal-adjusted light (try re-seating, removing and replacing the bulb first being careful not to touch the glass of the bulb because the oils on your skin can immediately ruin the bulb). It simply has adjusting screws on it..the screws that go through the little metal frame that holds the lamp in you adjust them in or out as you need..drive your car inside a garage next to a clear wall and turn the lights on..if no garage a wall on the outside of your house, brick wall etc will work...if the light is shining high the bottom 2 screws need to go in further..and the top two out...adjust till you see the beam at the right height on the wall....it is then needing adjusting back o the left for it is shining to the right too...means the left side screws need to go in more a little and the and the right ones back out..you will have to piddle with it a little back and forth due to heighth and side to side..but it is simple...look at the walls you are using to see the adjustment

There should be two adjusting screws on the head light. One, on top, will determine the height of the beam and the other on the side will handle the left/right position. Some of these are torx head screws so you may need to get a set of torx head drivers.

Park your car 20 feet from a wall.

Adjust the height of light to be 2 feet from the ground.

do you have a garage. park close to the garage about 3or 4 feet away. then adjust your head light with the one that is shinning on the garage. ok
