I just read that an oiler can add 25% more torque to air tools. Is there any mechanics out there that can confirm this?? I just thought it might be a good investment for my underpowered impact wrench.

Anyone got an idea of what a total brake job, parts, labor, etc would be? Pads, clips, shoes, everything, whole nine yards plus.

I would like to know if we can use a mixture of diesel and vegetable oil to make diesel engines to work. Do I have to install a warmer for the mixture? Is the performance of the engine the same? What are the proportions? Is it easy to install a warmer?

The car color is white (pearl). Am concerned that repainting a brand new car may result in more problems than living with slight color mismatch.

I have 2001 Toyota Camry with around 130K miles and check engine light was on. Since I could not pass the emission test, I took the car to the Goodyear shop for the computer test and they said I need to replace a lot of parts. So I replaced the following parts : catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, EGR vacuum modulator, evap. vacuum control valve, vacuum switching valve, exhaust flange gasket, EGR valve position sensor. After four days later, light came back and the same mechanic did the computer test again and asked to replace rear oxygen sensor. The mechanic said that is what the computer reads. So I replaced the rear oxygen sensor. Then yesterday, four weeks later, engine light came back again, but this time the computer test was fine and the mechanic said 'use the highest octane gas'. Can anybody give me an advice what is going on in my car? Was that the right thing what the shop did to repair my car's emission system? Can anybody know any policy if they replaced wrong parts?

I went to the xxxxx dealer to check the brakes (high-pitched noise) and the receipt says 1$ parts and $10 labor for something called 'clamped heat shield'. What is that? Does that have to do anything with brakes or noise?

I have a '94 SL1 that I purchased yesterday. The mileage was 35,300. At first when I test drove it the check service engine light would come on briefly between 40mph and 50mph. I took it back and they changed the heat sensors and the solenoid. Today as I am driving, I notice that the temp gauge would go 3/4 the way up and then cool down to just under half. There are no lights on, but I have never seen a car do that. Is this car supposed to go to 3/4 the way toward the H and then cool down to just below half? I noticed that the fan does not come on until the temp gets to 3/4. Is this normal?

i was in a wreck and took my car to have the body work repaired. while it was there the mechanic had to take it to the dealership, so he and his son drove it there. a few days later, i received a call saying that my car's engine had went out and that the car would not move. This was true, the car has still not been repaired because the cost to do so is around $5000. My insurance would not cover it because they say that it was not a result of the accident. My truck was running fine when i took it there, i had had no problems.

2007-10-03 22:58:45 · 11 answers · asked by William scot 1

The engine started knocking after it died driving down the road. No check engine light, so therefore no computer codes. There is metal shavings in the bottom of the oil pan. It has 97,000 miles on it and a transmission replaced a year ago. I was told the engine's shot and that they're not good anyhow. Is it possible to replace this engine with an engine referred to as a "Hemmy" out of another Chrysler? And what modifications will have to be made?
