I went to the xxxxx dealer to check the brakes (high-pitched noise) and the receipt says 1$ parts and $10 labor for something called 'clamped heat shield'. What is that? Does that have to do anything with brakes or noise?

You didn't say if this cured the problem or not but the "heat shield," or more appropriately the dirt/water shield, isn't likely to make a "high-pitched noise" if it makes any noise at all. If the problem was cured at a "dealer" then you got off VERY lightly. If it wasn't cured take it back......and ask for an explanation while you're there.

Beats me.......
Brakes don't have a heat shield.
