WHAT INDICATOR LIGHT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ? IF ITS THE BATTERY LIGHT ITS SHOWING A PROBLEM , AND IS NOT THE PROBLEM . ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT TURN SIGNAL ? THAT WOULD BE A WIRING PROBLEM

Misleading, you of course dont mean the traficator light but the charging system light You will have to change the alternator im afraid but if the battery has power when you stop you could pull the alternator wires overnight and see what happens Stay Lucky

It is probably a faulty indicator switch.
You may need to replace the complete column switch pack.

However, the Rover 400 switch pack is a Honda component, so failures are not common.

If the light turns off when you turn off the car, then that's not what's draining your battery.

Pull the fuse out for that circuit, and then make sure your brake lights work.
