Can we use a mixture of diesel and vegetal oil in diesel engines?

I would like to know if we can use a mixture of diesel and vegetable oil to make diesel engines to work. Do I have to install a warmer for the mixture? Is the performance of the engine the same? What are the proportions? Is it easy to install a warmer?
