The engine heated up during a parade and reached 230 degrees before I could exit the parade. I shut it down right away and let it cool naturally overnight. It started right up and seems to run fine. What indicators of damage should I watch for?

Original equipment replacement parts is sold over the counter of vehicle dealers and they say they are the same or better than originals. My experience says otherwise. My car muffler lasted nine years. I bought an OE replacement at the dealer for a high price and it lasted less than three years. What do you think?

I am planning to install a cone air filter (those found in autozone) in the place of a stock air box of the air intake. But i am planning to keep the original rubber tube. Is that possible?
I know it will not give as many hp as the CAI... Will there be any problems such as check engine light turning on? Any help is appreciated...
By the way the car is a 95 maxima.

a few weeks ago i hit a BMW (not a new one a old one, probably around 2000-2003) it wasn't a big accident just a fender bender, it left a scratch on his bumper. No his bumper is not dented in anyway and the scratch isn't that big.
he claims that he must replace the whole bumper and cannot paint over because it will "crack" in later years.
could this be possible?
he claims the repairs to be 500-1000$.
I find this very hard to believe. For this type of scratch the most is atlest 200.

The area where it leaks is coming from the top I think. It leaks over the hot metal just under where you pour the oil in. When it leaks and the car runs it starts to smoke. My car is not overheating but the oil is burning on the metal. How much do you think it will cost to fix? Also what gasket could it be? No oil leaks on the floor. My car is a 1991 Honda Accord too.

sometimes, it will open normally. you can almost feel the catch. no problems closing. as stated, we often have to resort to hitting it from the inside to work thru' the catch. we haven't tried anything as of yet. home remedies are good. we don't want to pay a hoard of money for the mechanic to spray wd40 if that's all it needs. any suggestions and help are appreciated. thanks

On my 2006 Power Stroke Diesel, I was driving in the parking lot when I heard a tapping noise. Two other people heard it as well. Ford said that they didnt find anything wrong at all. I am out of ideas.

Oh so many problems with my little car. Its a 93 2D V6 cavalier. First, the power windows barely work, they go down alright but it like shakes and shudders when i try to make them go up (doesn't actual go up however).

While driving I hear a high pitched squealing sound, it STOPS when I brake or make a left turn, then promptly resumes the annoying sound.

Today when I got home from the store, the passenger side door refuses to close, nothing seems wrong with the latch or anything, its like its hitting something as I try to close it.

I'm fairly sure junking the car would be the best option, as it has countless other issues but financially its not an option at this point.

Hit a curb turning right and rear tire hit the curb. Car drives alright but I can feel the accelaration dragging a little and my tires feel loose as I drive. I also started my car yesterday and a faint metallic sound came from my belt. I turn on the heat and the sound went away. Whats going on?

If there's more than one person in the car my handbrake tends to click. I'm not sure whether the handbrake is the problem but it seems that's where the noise is coming from, someone suggested the bearings? It goes a little worse when I turn left aswell. Any ideas would be appreciated
Please and thank you =]

I live in Houston, TX, closer to the Sugar Land area.

My wife has a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant GTZ, black. The paint job is in horrible condition, the clear coat is gone and now there is light surface rust on the roof and starting on the rear pillars.

Any reccomendations on where to go to get a decent paint job at a decent price in Houston, closer to the Sugar Land area is preferable.

MAACO quoted me $1500 without even removing any trim. I felt that price was way too high, considering all they would do is mask over and not even remove a SINGLE piece of trim!

HELP PLEASE
