Long story short, there is a piece of my car hanging off from the underside. It is at the very front of the car. Every time I back up, it pulls out from under the car. It used to be bolted on to an area in the wheel well, but after dragging around so much (duct tape has just stopped working), the part that held onto the bolt has been scraped off. It is thick black plastic, and I believe it is meant to protect the front portion of the undercarriage. I want to get it replaced, but I want to do a little price shopping because I have a friend who might be able to replace it for me as opposed to taking it into a shop and having them charge me $500 to bolt a piece of plastic up under my car :P I've looked all over at car anatomy pictures and I can't find the name of this piece. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a 2004 Honda CRV with 170K. The check engine light came on today and hesitates at exactly 2800 rpm and kicks back in at 2400 rpm. When accelerating or rev engine the rpms will not exceed 2800 rpm. Could this be a problem with the MAF sensor???

I have a 2006 Kia Rio, which has been running fine for 2 weeks since I got it back from the shop (got in a crash). Randomly tonight, I tried to start it but there was no sound at all, didn't start. The interior light wouldn't turn on either, and headlights were dim. A couple hours later, I tried to start it, and it started fine! I was wondering if this was just some random occurence or something I should worry about. And if so, what specifically is wrong?

My daughter has just moved to Saint Paul (a lovely city, I find) and this will be her first winter there. The car (1998 Toyota) has a battery with 550 charging amps, and the anti-freeze is good until 35 below zero.

As I live in California, I've never experienced winters like they have, and neither has she.

How does one even get the key into the car door when it's frozen? She will not be parking in a garage, but outdoors. I read somewhere that vinegar & water in a spray bottle, sprayed onto car windows, will keep ice and frost from forming. Can this be true?

I'd appreciate any hints on how to open the car door (somehow a big worry of mine) and/or how to keep the car doing okay during winter.

Thanks so much.

i heard that relining your car once or twice a week won't even effect it but my other friend says it really strains your engine and would not recommend it.

I just bought a new Mazda 3 and I was wondering if driving on the freeway at about 55-60 mph for about 130-150 miles straight would be okay for the new engine.

I have a 95 Wrangler automatic trans. and the oil gauge suddenly started going crazy. It normally fluctuates depending on driving or idle (idle it's usually right in the middle, driving, slightly above). This time, the needle shot straight to the top and held while driving and dipped down to low while in idle. There's nothing visibly wrong with anything in the engine, and the oil tank is still full. Any suggestions on where I should start to check things would be welcome.

96 Cavalier 2.2 liter engine, just replaced water pump and thermostat.

When I come to a stop, the water comes back thru the reservoir/overflow.

When engine shut off, coolant pours out of overflow.

I was wondering if there was any way i can change the color of the lights inside the car (the lights for the gauges and the audio and stuff). I dont really like the stock green. If i can, can you please link me a website where i can buy the bulbs. Also i could use a different face for the gauges. Thanks A Lot!!!

These batteries were functionally dead, yet on a volt meter showed they were fine. I wasn't until we put a load tester on them that were saw their true state. We further tested each battery with a hydrometer and both showed 'replace'. What I don't understand is how can a battery show it is fully charged when looking at the volts and yet be dead? Is it the 'amps' that are dead? Is there an instrument that I can hook up to a battery and have it show me how many amps it has? Such as a battery is rated as having 400 cranking amps at 32 degrees F. I want to know how many amps are in a particular battery. Can this be done? Thanks, Ed

I got 1998 mustang gt, yellow color. Car was repainted before me and old paint started to chip. I want to repaint my car to a black color. Just wanted to see if someone can recommend me a good paint shop in Los Angeles area and how much will it cost (approximately)? Also if bodywork needed (I have little dent on a passenger rear end) will it bump up a price too much?
