Yes, the Haynes repair manual is worth the $17. It has everything from how much oil your vehicle will hold to the exact measurements of a bolt for a particular piece of the engine to wiring diagrams. It also provides step by step instructions on how to do different projects for your vehicle.

It really does depend on what vehicle you are buying it for. I find that Haynes manuals tend to tell you how to take your vehicle apart, which isn't always quite what you want to know. Some vehicles have better alternatives, but Haynes are generally a good buy. Working on any vehicle without a good workshop manual is generally a recipe for disaster.

You have the option to buy an alldata online, the problem is that you can only view it online so if there's a car problem and you're not near a computer this may be a problem. But also, most repairs you will do at home, I dunno.
Alldata got more complete info than haynes

I buy a Haynes and a Chilton Manual for every vehicle I purchase..the chilton seems to give a better description in more easy to understand terms.

If you are going to do your own work on your car I would get one. It has all the recommended services for your car and step by step instructions. I have an automotive degree and every time I work on my car I read what I'm about to do before I goto the parts store buy everything i might need so I don't need to make a trip when my car is all apart. When I can drive my car again I return what I didn't use. (doesn't work on electonic componets)
