I got 1998 mustang gt, yellow color. Car was repainted before me and old paint started to chip. I want to repaint my car to a black color. Just wanted to see if someone can recommend me a good paint shop in Los Angeles area and how much will it cost (approximately)? Also if bodywork needed (I have little dent on a passenger rear end) will it bump up a price too much?

Complete color change paint jobs usually run 2-3000.00 for a quality job. Small dent repairs should not add too much...maybe a few hundred. Get a few estimates from different shops and look at the quality of their work.
Autobodyonline.com has a shop finder feature you can use to search for shops or call your insurance agent for references.

With an automotive paint job, you get what you pay for. If you want cheap you will get cheap. If you want it to look nice, it will cost you significantly more. Open your telephone book to the Yellow Pages. Body shops are usually found under the heading: Automobile Body Repair & Painting. Have one of these places paint your car. It will cost significantly more than MAACO or Scheib, but you will be much more satisfied with the results. HINT: A decent paint job is going to cost you much more than $800 - $1200. Here's why. This is a 35 year old car. Because of it's age, it will most likely need a significant amount of prep work. Lots of sanding, filling, disassembling, etc. The going rate for labor at a body shop is about $100 per hour. The labor and materials just for this part of the job will eat up your $800 to $1200 budget. It is going to take more than one complete work day to prep your car for primer. Next your car must be sealed and primed. Another 4 hours labor, $400, plus about $150 in materials. Add $550. The car will need a certain amount of final prep between the primer coat and when they start to paint. Figure another $200 for labor and materials. It is now ready for paint. Figure on another 6 to 8 hours to apply the paint. About $600 to $800 in labor and another $300 to $500 for materials. Most modern paint jobs are a base coat / clear coat system. Add another 4 hours to apply the clear coat. $400 for labor and $200 for materials. After the paint dries the masking materials must be removed and any parts removed must be reinstalled. Figure another 4 hours for this. Add another $400. If you want it to look real good you may want the paint polished to make it look perfect. Figure another 4 hours labor. Add $400. So you see how just a regular paint job done by a body chop can quickly add up to $5000 or more. This is for a standard paint job. No custom paint. Painting the original color. Not a custom paint job. And this figure assumes no major body repairs that require panel replacement. If you want cheap, you get cheap.
