I have a 2006 Kia Rio, which has been running fine for 2 weeks since I got it back from the shop (got in a crash). Randomly tonight, I tried to start it but there was no sound at all, didn't start. The interior light wouldn't turn on either, and headlights were dim. A couple hours later, I tried to start it, and it started fine! I was wondering if this was just some random occurence or something I should worry about. And if so, what specifically is wrong?

Why would a couple hours make a difference and allow it to start?

Sounds like the battery terminal thingie could be loose. I would tighten it up... or get a shop to do it if you cant. or could be a bad battery.

If it had rained, the distributor or connecting wires could have gotten wet and shorted out temporarily ( until they dried out ).

The battery terminals often get corroded and interfere with the connection in ways that are sometimes random. Clean them and the problem, if due to this, will clear up and the starting will become reliable again.

Get the battery checked out. My car was doing the same thing. I thought it was the starter but thankfully it was just a dead battery!
