I have lost both of my car keys and they are nowhere to be found. Without the keys, I cannot start my car and have had to hitch a ride to work the last few days. How can I get an other key? Do I need to call a lock smith or what...?

Are there any mechanical parts in a catalytic converter. My mechanic says my converter is bad. If I take my converter off and clean it out and blow it out, will it function better and prolong its life. My car died the other day and my mechanic said it was the distributor. He replaced it and my car started once again. 10 minutes after leaving his shop, my check engine light came on. He said the code was P0420 which meant my converter was bad. He quoted about 1300 to repair the problem. After doing some research on that ODB code, a potential cause of that could be spark timing is off. Since they replaced my distributor, I have a feeling that is what caused the check engine light to come on. Now my car, does not seem to accelerate properly and it almost jumps into acceleration when I hod the gas down. Also, it sound kind of like it is going to stall when it is idiling. Anyone have any info on converters. Thank You

I read that if your fluid is brown with black flakes (which mine was) then you should not flush b/c the transmission is "TOAST" and will actually work better with the old grimy fluid.

It said if you flush, the transmission will soon fail.

What can I do now????

2003 Maxima (new when bought). Just over 100,000 miles. Never serviced transmission before.

ok,
so, my 1994 corolla has its check engine light on. now i did get my o2 sensor replaced, i have no vacuum leaks, i have everything that i know of in running order. the only problem that i am still seeing, is my RPM's meeter stil shows that the engine starts at 2 Rpm's instead of its usual 1 rpm. my gas mileage is still a little down, (usually i get about 385 and now im getting about 330 plus or minus) what is wrong still?

Hey, I have a 94 F150 that ive owned for over a year now, up until now I havent had any problems at all really. Anyways one day I was driving to class and I noticed this white smoke coming out from the AC vents and dashboard. I was almost there so I continued on without much worry, anyways it didnt happen for about 3 days and then just yesterday it happened again. This time I could also smell it, and it makes it almost hard to breathe id I dont have the windows down. It happened again this morning, so whats the problem? Do I need to take the truck in or is it something I shouldnt worry about?

Thanks.

I've recently found out i've got a slit buckled alloy wheel when i had a flat tyre and had to get it changed.
The macanic change my tyre and applied some kind of glue to stop air escaping, but it didn't last long and now im having to pump my tyre everyday because a lilttle air is escaping.
I need help in what to do, should i just go out and buy a new wheel or is there a way i could get it fixed.

And also is it possible just to buy a single second hand wheel temporally?

Any advise pls!

Okay, My taurus is having problems overheating. It has had a thermostat put in it, it has antifreeze in it, when you are driving it it is fine, but when ur setting still for a while, it almost goes up to the red, and u can smell antifreeze real bad, but ITS NOT boiling. And the heat doesn't work worth a crap, but the engine is hot, cause its overheating, what could be that cause?? thanx

i use a full synthetic oil (wal-mart brand). i heard i can drive 10,000 miles without changing it, but im used to changing it every 3k miles (when i used to use regular oil). i drive 1/2 highway miles, and 1/2 city, and i live in northern california. im not sure if that makes a difference.

Hello all :-)

So I have a 1997 BMW 528i, 83K miles. Last January, I noticed the temperature gauge work towards the "red zone" when I was stopped at a red light or in traffic, and when I accelerated it went back to normal. Carmax replaced the thermostat and bled the coolant, and replaced it with new coolant. It worked for 3 months, and then the same thing happened again. This time, Carmax replaced the cooling fan clutch. Now it is doing the same thing again. What is going on? I also have started to hear a roaring noise when accelerating from a cold start, and although I recently had the transmission replaced, there is still a sharp kick when switching gears.
