i use a full synthetic oil (wal-mart brand). i heard i can drive 10,000 miles without changing it, but im used to changing it every 3k miles (when i used to use regular oil). i drive 1/2 highway miles, and 1/2 city, and i live in northern california. im not sure if that makes a difference.

Synthetic oil is designed to give longer lasting protection, however, I think 10K might be a stretch. Check with the Oil manufacturers recommendations and / or your owner's manual.
