It is a dull alum. with a cast iron base about 4 1/4 in.- base is 1 1/4in. No other markings I can see. can you help me I need a kit for it but dont know which one to order thank you much

That would most likely be a Rochester 4GC carb. They were used on a lot of GM vehicles up through the early 60's.

Should be a 7 or 8 digit (usually starting with 70 or 170) casting number stamped on the main body...it's on a vertical rib next to the throttle linkage...drivers side of the carb main body. Have to look at the carb sideways.

should be a serial # stamped on the main body somewhere.
