A brick through the window never fails. lol. Actually, most of the late model cars are a pain as the windows are so tight that using a coat hanger is impossible. The late model latch designs make a slim jim difficult, at best, to absolutely impossible as a door opening tool. Best bet is to bite the bullet and call a locksmith. Around $50 bucks most places. If you have full coverage your insurance may pay for it. Worth checking with your agent.

check with your car insurance if a lockout is covered. You can also check with your credit card companies they some times have this offer to you for free along with your credit cards. Roadside assistance coverage that include lockouts under credit cards. Another way is if you have a very nice friend that has this coverage under their vehicle they can call there insurance and the locksmith will come out do it for free, just as long as your friend says she/he was driving the car. If not, all you can do is be creative and try to use the old fashion hanger if your car is not power window then try to roll down the lever with the hanger. Best of luck!

A "Slim Jim" is used to access the door release through the window opening. You may find one at an auto parts store

"Learning how to use a slim jim starts with an understanding of car door locks. Most car door locks function by means of a control arm. The control arm activates when the car key is turned in the lock, but can also be bypassed in order to open the door without a key. The slim jim's notched end is used to access this control arm via the car window."
