Hey, I have a 94 F150 that ive owned for over a year now, up until now I havent had any problems at all really. Anyways one day I was driving to class and I noticed this white smoke coming out from the AC vents and dashboard. I was almost there so I continued on without much worry, anyways it didnt happen for about 3 days and then just yesterday it happened again. This time I could also smell it, and it makes it almost hard to breathe id I dont have the windows down. It happened again this morning, so whats the problem? Do I need to take the truck in or is it something I shouldnt worry about?

Thanks.

If the inside of your windshield is getting slimy and it smells like hot antifreeze coolant, your heater core sprung a leak and needs replacing. Could cost $400 total. You can bypass it temporarily by connecting the heater hoses together at the firewall while you wait to get it fixed.

Have someone check the freon or 134a what ever it has - some give off a smoke and you could have an evaporator leak - my Mustang and Caravan have both did the same thing but the Caravan was just low with 134a so see if it only smokes when the AC is on and maybe that will let you know and if it smokes with it off i don't know what to say because that is like a sealed system

If it's smoke, then you probably have some wires shorting out and shouldn't drive it because there could potentially be a fire. If it's a white sweet smelling type of steam instead, look at your heater core. You still wouldn't want to drive it because if the heater core is out, then you are getting antifreeze all over the place under the dash.

In short, take it to a reputable repair shop to have it looked at.

smoke or condensate?

if its smoke, be afraid and its time to start pulling bits off to see whats going on. possible the fan motor or ancilliary heater (electric)

but it could also be just a mist of water vapour from the vents. if the air is super moist and the a/c is overloaded it just pushes not tottally dry air out, into the cool air in the cab, leaving vapour trails.

Sounds like a seizing compressor.

Hi I'm a big expert and yes u should take it in because it probably needs new coolant or a fan belt but it is kind of important that u fix it as soon as possible so it don't get worse.
