There is a tapping noise (similar to a cow bell) coming from the back end. I think it is a U joint.?

On my 2006 Power Stroke Diesel, I was driving in the parking lot when I heard a tapping noise. Two other people heard it as well. Ford said that they didnt find anything wrong at all. I am out of ideas.

Ujoints don't usually ring like a bell. Pinion flange dust shield may be loose---have to tack weld it to the flange again or replace. Have someone brave enough to do it, crawl underneath or put the truck on a hoist and listen while you shift forward to reverse or pound on the undercarriage/driveshaft,springs,etc... with a rubber mallet.
