how to find paint for a car?

i mean the vin code what specific numbers in the code tell you the paint color?

It is probably not in the VIN although the dealer can find it using that method. There should be a plate somewhere with a paint code number on it. Look under the hood and in the drivers door jamb.

Year, make and model? Vin codes don't have paint color info---that would be on an option label or color/trim label depending on what brand of car.This example of a GM car shows an option label paint code at the bottom of the label....
