Is there something im missing? theres no install instructions i pushed and pulled on the rod several times but everytime i compress it the rod doesnt come back out on its own. Installed rear shocks to see if the wieght of the truck would make them work somehow but there not effective at all. am i doing something wrong or did i get 4 screwed up shocks?

oklatom ure wrong that is what they are sopposed to do ive seen videos of people installing them and they compress them and the shock does come out on its own, They are rancho rs5000 shocks, i understand u have to pull them out but my main point is there not effective at all on the truck.

Try turning the shaft in the up or down stroke 1/2 turn . If this doesn't work take them back for replacement. Open the box at the store to see if the instructions or there.

Would depend if it's an oil shock or gas charged. Gas charged are the most common but sometimes will extend out slow but they do extend, oil based will not, you manually have to pull it out.

Shocks are designed to dampen the bounce of the springs, not lift the vehicle or come out on their own. You are seeing the action shocks are suppose to do.

If they were not supposed to expand why are they tied down ?? Take 'em back.
