Never mind that last answer cause the rattle that they think is a ping from cheap gas detonating but newer cars dont ping anymore especially with the new drive by wire systems on these cars.sounds like you have a loose heat sheild that protects the underside from the heat from the exhaust. tap on the exhausty in different sections to see where its the loudest and go from there !! also consideer buying an extended warranty from THE DEALER OF YOUR MAKE OF CAR, CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR A CHEVROLET, ACURA DEALER FOR ACURAS and so on. Its like life insurance for your car. Keep an eye on the deductables though as some are $200 and alot of repairs are under $200

I had a similar problem with my car and i took it into the shop and they said that the rattle was coming from deep in the engine and my engine needed to be replaced. Take it to a shop and have them do an all over inspection.

If it sounds like marbles in your engine, use a higher grade gas.

If it sounds like sombody rattleing pans in the cupboard, it could be the exhaust system is loose.

The last guy pretty much has it nailed. I would guess a loose heat shield or a catalytic converter going/or bad.

It may be a simple as a exhaust hanger. If the exhaust had been damage it may too close to a bracket.
