When you jump start a dead battery, first allow the dead battery to charge(with ignition off) for 15 minutes then try to start it.

Make sure you jump start it with a good set of cables. Leave the cables on the dead battery for a few minutes to charge the battery a little, then jump it. If it starts, the starter is good. Buy a battery. Take the car to Sears Auto, they will check it for free and replace the battery or starter if you need one.

Try charging the battery take it to a parts store most can check the barttery. You may have 12 volts on the battery but it may drain down the battery when trying to start. Turn on the lights see if thay dim then it is the barttery.

If it's the original battery, I'd bet that's your problem. If you decide to try jumping it again, make sure the radio and all lights are off. The easiest and cheapest thing to do is remove the battery and take it to a place like Sears and have them check it.

Yeah, it sounds like you've got a direct short at the starter and likely the starter solenoid also. Change both, check all wire and cable connections, clean and tight.

leave it connected to the other car for awhile then it should start. Sounds like you need a new battery.

If it'll jumpstart, your battery's just dead and you don't need a new starter.
