I needed the rear shocks fixed on my Civic, and they've had it a couple of days now, and I just wondered if anyone knows how long it could take, or usually takes. Thanks

Well, I just bought the car, and I never took it home because I wanted the shocks fixed. That was on Saturday, and they called me on Monday asking when I wanted to set an appointment. I told them the car was still there, and they said okay, and that I should have it within the week. The shop is a Honda dealership, so I figure they might have a lot of business, and that's why it's taking so long.

A couple days is waaaay more than enough time to change rear shocks on a Civic. The job is rated at 1.5 hours in the shop repair manual. Whoever you're dealing with is full of crap or just plain lazy.

It's an extremely easy process that with parts standing by (rear shocks for a Civic are a dime a dozen) would in reality take no more than an hour to complete barring any major problems found during the repair (i.e. leak, broken brake line, wheel bearing, etc).

It's time to find a new shop, I'd be curious to know what type of excuse they're giving on why it's taking so long. You might consider a surprise visit to check on the car.

Hope this helps!

Depends on the vehicle and the shop. The shop could be backed up. If they are not done by tomorrow, go get it and take it somewhere else. Shocks do not take an extensive amount of time. especially on a civic. Good luck

It depends on what kind of shocks they are. Rear shocks are usually pretty easy because they don't usually have springs over the top of them or anything.

If they're the original shocks though, they can be rusted in place & be a real monster to get out. Then the reinstall is pretty quick. It also depends on how busy the shop is.

That doesn't make sense to have it a couple of days? Ask them why? Replacing them should only take about 20 minutes. It's only (4) bolts. Trust me I lowered my civic.

Good luck.

Should take no more than a couple of hours assuming they had the parts in stock.

Not that long. They obviously haven't brought the car in for service yet.
