Does anyone know how much fuel consumption increases by when using air conditioning in a car?

And before anyone says zero - think again - it may be electrical but the only energy source in the car (over time) is fuel - this has to charge the battery. Also, if you turn the aircon on, you can usually see a drop in revs.

i have a 1995 chevy cavalier and i just replaced the battery (so it's brand new), and had a new alternator put in when my car died on the side of the road while driving. The car drove around fine for the afternoon, and now my battery light came back on and won't go off. I was just wondering what could be causing this. Could it be my voltage regulator or my wiring harness connecting to the alternator itself, or something completly different... any help would be great. Thanks!!!!!!!!

( eldbrock pre. intake, holley 5.7L throttle body w/regulator and spacer, new radiator, high flow water pump, mach underdrive pulleys, shorty headers, msd distributor and blaster coil pack, plus wires, 160 thermostat and hypertech chip, i also put a shift kit in my 700r4 tranny, and a new remaned starter.)

i just recently put all the parts into or on the engine and put everything back together and when the moment of truth came around... i turned the key and nothing happened??? starter didnt engage i didnt hear the fuel pump nothing... it made me so made i spent $4500 and now it doesnt even work. all the wires to the starter are wired back corretly one from the battery 2 from the terminal next to the battery a purple wire from the gear selector to make sure the care is in park, none of the fuses are blowen i replaced the fuel pump relay.

My car is new (13,000 miles) and i change my oil about ever 2000 to 2500 miles with synthetic (royal purple) oil. Everytime I change my oil i smell burning oil for the first 100-200 miles. Then it goes away. The only time I smell it is if I stop and walk by the front of the car with the motor off. I just changed it for the 6th time and made sure not to drop oil on anything in the motor and I cleaned around the new oil filter with a rag to get the oil that drips off the oil pan and exhaust pipe (a little always drips when I remove the old filter). I still smell it. Is this normal in some cars. I have never smelled it before. thanks.

I only recently bought my car and yesterday was my first day of driving it. My father noticed a noise when I take my foot off the clutch fully, a knocking noise is the best way that I can think to describe it. The car has recently had a new battery, alternator and timing belt though so could these need to settle in or something? Apart from that its really good, it was lovely and smooth on the motorway when my father drove it back so no complaints there. Any ideas? Thanks!

The service engine soon light of my car was on, then I took it to an auto repair they said it would cost 85 dollars to make the diagnosis(about 1 hour labor). But after 1 hour they said there were 2 error codes and they could only identify one of them, for the other code the problem was rather complicated and rare and they needed to tear down the engine to figure out what the problem was and it still needed 2 more hours, the total cost for making the diagnosis of the service engine soon light was 260 bucks. Is it normal for them to do so? could it be possible that they made simple problems sound serious to collect more money? How can I tell if they are doing the right thing?

This might be a dumb question and after working on cars for awhile I should know this but I have a 240sx i've been building and wanted to check the electrical system (dash lights, headlights, ect) but don't have a battery for it yet. I was wondering if I could connect a battey charger to the positive and negative battery cables just to check quickly without causing any problems. Thanks in advance
