Not exactly sure about this particular model but does the truck stall when you come to a stop and does it have an auto trans? If it is an auto and it stalls, it's the torque convertor lock up switch acting up. There's a plug that you can unplug on the tranny that will fix it temporarily but will let it rev a lot higher on the highway. If it's the lock up switch it's a pain to change and probably expensive if a shop is going to do it. Some people just put a toggle switch in to have it lock up when they're on the highway.

if you only have 2 gears in your transmission that work you have transmission problems the ignition system has nothing to do with the drivetrain or its componets the shop that looked at it obiously doesnt know there butt from a hole in the ground if its an automatic you may have a computer issue or internal problems if its a straight shift you definatly have internal problems take it to a transmission repair shop and get a qualified mechanis to look at it and dont mess with those shade tree wanna be mechanics youll end up having a zipper put on it so it wont be so hard to work on hope this helped you out

How can the transmission have only two gears ?Are other gears removed ? The ignition system and the transmission system are two different systems in any car and are not interrelated. Will you please elaborate your question ?
