i have a mk3 cav hatchback and was wondering if anyone new if i can use astra locks and ignition barrel (if same dimensions ect), keep having probs with the cavs square typre key so want the astra type jaggered one (just seems better to me). thanks

got to change whole lot, works out cheaper because got a cheap ignition barrel off ebay other month (now cant remove key from ignition) drivers door lock completely broke and boot lock only opens (origional key broke all the locks, its badly worn)

You will need to identify the manufacture of the ignition lock assembly. Vauxhall use different makers. I believe that the astra and the cavalier locks are interchangeable if they are of the same make.
It does seem a lot of work though. Have you tried a new key - not cut from your old one but from the key number.

Some time the factory key is stronger. I have a Holden Manaro Pontiac GTO and like the square type key with the slot on the side. I suggest a locksmith. There will be something different when you get into the lock cy's that will give you fits!
