waxing your car is a scam. Carnauba wax is a no-no. It strips your cars clear top paint layer, that's what gives it the gloss look after you've waxed it. In time, your paint will thin so much that it will oxidize and strip completely. The best advice I can give you is use a liquid wax that you spray on and do not have to buff.

some one said use a high speed polishing wheel and if they mean like a buffer...DON'T do that!!! unless you know what you are doing i would never try to DIY buff a black car. you would get so much swirls in the paint and make it look even worse. if yuo just want to like hand wax/polish try nu finish it comes in a orange bottle. it's really effective and only costs like $6 for a bottle. just wipe on wipe off. use like a micro fiber towel to wipe off the wax. you can get those towels at i'm sure any auto parts store or even like k-mart. you could even apply it to the windows and windshield to make the water just bead right off.(can be a pain in the **** to wipe off but worth it) that would cause the same effect as a rain-x.

if your car needs to get buffed i'd say just pay the $79 dollars or so to get it done by a good detail shop.

how did it come out bad? i like to wax on a cloudy day so it dries a little slower also i only uSE turtle wax it is old school. get some detailing tools to get the wax out of the trim and it should be fine. the truth is though it sounds as though you should maybe just pay to have it done. besides its good for the economy. provide a job to a low wage earner

hello,i own a black cadillac cts,i tried almost every wax out there.found that the brand NEW FINISH works the best for me.don't do on sunny day, wait for clouds or shade.produces a smooth glass like finish, but i still have the swirl marks that go along with the pleasure of owning a black car.forget the ICE STUFF completely.hope this helps.

i would get it detailed. if you tried it once and it came out bad, why spend more money trying again. I tried to wax my car and it didnt come out anywhere near what it would if i had it professionally done...Most car washed offer the detailing for less then a detailing shop, check it out, you can save time, and aggravation by letting them do it for you! But, watch when they do it and pick up some pointers and the next time you might be able to pull it off better then the last.

you can do either. I detail cars and i always use meguires products. and black is one of the hrdest to detail and especially wax. dont be afraid to use a polish then a wax. and use a high speed polishing wheel. doing it by hand will always leave swirls. meguires GOLD CLASS is a good wax. good luck and if you need more info let me know ill try to help

I think that you should still do it yourself. Try an old conventional wax. just make sure that it does not require any power tools to buff it out and follw the directions.

Get a friend, neighbor, or relative to show you how to do it. I like to do my own, since that way, I can spot every flaw in the paint.

good luck.
