I have an 89 Pathfinder that just wont start. It ran fine a couple of days ago and now it just wont start. It turns over but wont start. It smells of gas after trying to start it. I pulled the air filter housing off and tried to start it and there was an ignition out of the top when I stopped trying to start it.

Any suggestions of what my problem might be?

If a radiator is cracked or the car is overheating and producing smoke, is it possible for the smoke to come in through the air vents and into the cabin? I need to know for the sake of realism in a fictional story I'm writing. Any play-by-play of what happens during this problem would be appretiated (as I am not looking to go find out through experience :))

YES - I tried FRIDGE IT activated carbon in my car and OMG, it works fantastic in cars too. I had the worst stale smell in my car that I just could not get rid of. I tried everything including baking soda and lots of fragrances that just covered up some of the smell for awhile. This product really worked to ELIMINATE the smells. See my earlier comment. Does anyone else use this product and where else can you buy it?

I originally found a product that really, really works to actually get rid of the fish odor in fridge and bad smelling ice in freezer. I've tried baking soda, lemons, and just about everything else. You've got to try this - FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It's a little purple cube odor absorber and IT REALLY WORKS.
Anyone else use this product?

I have a 2000 v8 dodge dakota sport. I had been having problems with it stalling in cold weather or even rainy weather and even had troubles starting it at times. I went to start it today after I had already been driving it around and it sounded like it might start the first 2 times I tried. The third time it didnt make any noise other then a faint clicking sound. (I did not leave the lights on or do anything that could have drained the battery and also the battery is only about a year or so old). Afterwards I was able to get it jump started and it worked for the rest of the night.. I jumped it again this morning and now its not starting again.. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated

My car is a 97 malibu and it seems something is always going wrong. I always fix everything when it goes wrong and always get everything done ontime. The past few months it has made a little ticking noise normally when I start it up or if really cold. It sounds like it is comin from the belt. I bought a new one and my friend who was fixing my water pump because it broke said the belt was fine so I returned it. Well the other day a friend of mine told me I needed to clean my engine cause there was a bunch of dirt under the hood. I had him do it cause I was scared I might mess it up. We went to the car wash and he was spraying it and all of a sudden it started making the loud ticking noise. He said it was just cause it was wet. Well the sound has not gone away yet and it has been 4 days. It does it when I start my car and when I push on the gas. Noramally stops when I stop the car or foot on break. (unless just started car) I listened under my hood and it sounds like it around belt.

I have a 1995 grand cherokee and my check engine light keeps coming on. Some days it will do it, some days it won't.
Oil is fine, transmission fluid good, tune up done fairly recently.
I did have someone tell me that it could be an O2 Sensor. What exactly is that and how much would it cost for repair?

my girlfriend recently bout a used car from a car dealership one of the buy here pay here places, within 2 months of her buying it it blew the radiator and head gasket and they are saying she is responsible cuz she didnt put water into it, but she did put water in it and the temp. reading never indicated it was running hot even when it was smoking, and now that she got it back its not running right.
Is there any options for her or is she going to be stuck with this car and the repair bill, the warranty says it cover if anything breaks

My truck is 5 years old and it has 46,000 miles on the original tires.

Can I keep driving on the tires I have if they're not bald? I know I'll need new tires soon but I hardly ever drive my truck because I drive a company vehicle.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Aztek with 124,000 Miles. For the first time ever, my Aztek stalled as I pulled into a parking lot. There was absolutely no warning...after the stall I noticed the battery light was lit. I immediately started up the car without any complications but am worried....will this happen again? I have also noticed that the RPM seems to fluctuate quite often when stopped. Is this normal?

I have a 1990 Toyota Corolla I was just given by a little old lady who litterally drove it no more than 10 miles a week.

After driving it for about an hour the oil light comes on but only while I am stopped at a light or breaking. It only seems to happen once the engine has warmed up. Then after a while longer the temp gage starts to get close to the red line.

There are plenty of fluids in the car and for a 1990- it only has 99,400 miles on it. I know this kind of car could last me another 100k so I want to get it taken care of. I just want to have an idea of what's going on before I walk blindly to a machanic who may charge too much to even discover the problem!

Thanks for your help!

90 Honda Accord DX.
Each plug came with a little metal ring/washer. Do I have to use them? and which way do I install them? (the two sides are not the same).

I'm taking my car to the dealer today but wanted to know if anyone might know offhand what the deal is... my car has been making this squeaky noise in in the front end of the car. It squeaks a little while in motion, but squeaks a lot louder when my car is idle. The check engine light has come on (don't know if it's coincidence). The strange part is if my car is turned off and I shut my door hard enough, I can hear the squeak in the front end....it's driving me nuts.

I have a 1995 Toyota Landcruiser, and it is overheating when I take it on the highway (not in town.) At some point the engine released (radiator fluid? muddy water?) though I was not there for the event. It is not leaking and no white smoke from the exhaust. There is no noticable leak internally. Mechanic has flushed three times, and now removing to "clean" and see if the bottom of the radiator a)can get water flow and b)has a crack or blown head gasket. Says I may need new radiator if cant clean. First, what do these symptoms indicate? Next, how much should it cost for new radiator? Last, is there a way to repair a radiator? I'm not a mechanic, and feeling slightly vulnerable to the specialists. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
