I'm taking my car to the dealer today but wanted to know if anyone might know offhand what the deal is... my car has been making this squeaky noise in in the front end of the car. It squeaks a little while in motion, but squeaks a lot louder when my car is idle. The check engine light has come on (don't know if it's coincidence). The strange part is if my car is turned off and I shut my door hard enough, I can hear the squeak in the front end....it's driving me nuts.

More than likely it's a loose heat shield on the exhaust system near the exhaust manifolds.

Lube every joint up with WD40 one at a time until the squeak stops. That should help focus on the point of the problem. If a bushing or something else is worn the WD 40 will not last for long.

It could be a noisy alternator, or even a loose fan-belt, both of these will cause your engine light to come on.
