motor, fan is ok. it justs turns on and off all the time and no cold air is coming out of the vent.

sounds like you have a restriction in the suction side or your freon is low, ya need to have the system tested. could even be hi or low pressure switch gone bad, or even your clutch is just weak?? too many guesses unless ya got a set of guages to hook up to your system .. Save yourself some headaches and take it to a good shop !!!

I'll bet that your low pressure switch is taking the compressor motor out. This is due to a low freon charge, because you have a small leak somewhere in the system.

i have to assume you are talking about your A/C COMPRESSOR and it is doing what is called "short cycling" it is most likely undercharged meaning you are low on refrigerant and it needs to be charged. the compressor is regulated by a high and low pressure switch and when it comes on the low pressure or high pressure switch will kick in and stop the compressor. it could also be overcharged, but thats not usually the case.
