is the gauge correct? drain the tank and add the equivalent of 1/4 a tank into it and check reading.
if that doesnt work, the pickup is bent or broken in the tank. time to drop the tank and start looking

it doesn't sound that you run out of gas ,because the car never lose some power before it died out,or at least jerk
Because if it does, you might accidentally bent the floater
of the sending unit ,giving you a false reading on your gas Gage,
yes some fuel pump especially after market break down easy some times
My rule of thumb is ,,Electrical, buy original

You may have gotten a faulty fuel pump or sending unit. I would suggest going over the entire procedure with a manual, or all data, and double check everything. But it sounds like you just got a bad part, with happens a lot, especially from auto zone.

I have run out a few times with a couple of ticks left on my gas gauge. I just assume the gauge was off and that I really was empty. It just forces my lazy a$$ to keep the tank a little more full.. which apparently is good for the car anyways lol.

Don't know newer cars but I had a '65 Buick the would do the same thing and I found the there was a neoprene gas line in between the gas tank and the steel gas line braced to the frame. That neoprene hose had corrosion that allowed it to suck air when the tank got low.

the float arm might be bent and your reading of 1/4 tank could actually be empty the same thing happened to a friend of mine after he put in a new fuel pump

If it replaced right into a crankshaft place sensor, the vehicle might nevertheless crank, basically does not fireplace. try beginning the vehicle in independent, if it starts, then that is definately the independent secure practices change. that's the two that, or the ign. change. if it replaced into me and not lots money, i might connect somewhat speaker twine to the small twine going to the starter solenoid and then tie it off by using the battery. whilst i might decide to start it, i might turn the foremost on, touch the twine to the beneficial post of the battery and initiate the vehicle, do away with the twine, tie it off faraway from the battery or any 12volt source and get my spouse and my newborn homestead. desire this permits. force secure. you may be actually running out of gas in it,i put a new unit in one and it did this, and i didn't think to check to see if it actually was running out of gas, come find out the sending unit was off in it and it was running out at a little less than 1/4 of a tank, this might be something you want to look in to,it happens a lot more than you would think it does, good luck with it.
