I just got into an accident when I was backing up and the other car was backing up also in the parking lot. My left side got a dent in it and paint was scratched heavily on bumper and main piece. The other car's taillight was broken and 2 fairly decent scratches on bumper...
Do we settle this without getting insurances involved or with? I know mine is going to cost well over $1000 to repair and his will cost around $400...

I don't know what they are called. I open my bonnet from in the car... lift it a little, and then a thin silver bar (hydraulic hinge?) comes out of another wider silver thin bar, and takes care of the rest... lifting up the bonnet with a space-age release of air or sound... then holds the bonnet up in position.

I've also got two which gently lift open the boot after you open it a fraction.

Question: I left my bonnet/hood open for a while whilst servicing the car... and I then noticed that hydraulic hingey thing put up a bit of resistance to closing... and it gave a reluctant sound..... prolly cause it had been raised for 5 hours.

Are you meant to use some sort of lubricant to keep those hinges in good shape?????????? Thanks.

I went their recently for an oil change and they told me to replace a whole bunch of things. They said they just go by mileage, but told me that I need to replace my timing belt and some other stuff. Now I went to a mechanic and he told me that my car doesn't even have a timing belt. Just a timing chain, and that the thing they pointed at is something completely else and looks good. My friend told me though that Jiffy Lube is the best there is and they always know what they are talking about. But I kind of think that place is a rip off and people seem to know even less about cars than myself.

i have a 1999 subaru legacy. i know my car is overheating but im not sure why. the cooling fans work fine and there is antifreeze in the reservoir and radiator. It was slowly rising towards the H until it went beyond it. I check under the hood and i saw that in the radiator cap, the liquid was falling through the sides. i think the antifreeze is not going through or something. what could be wrong. could it be the radiator?

This is a rather simple question.

I own a 2000 Toyota Corolla.
About 2 or 3 months ago, my BRAKE light on the dash has been going on. But it would only go on for about two seconds and then flash off. And it didn't come back on for another month. Well here recently... probably about two weeks ago... the BRAKE light has been staying on. It only turns off once in awhile... but mostly stays on.

No sounds are being made when I hit my brakes.
No abnormalities.
No nothing, really? They seem fine?

Why is my car doing this?

I'm going to take it in to get looked at in a week... (when I get paid.) And on that topic, how much do you think it would cost for something like this? If you have the diagnosis?

I hear it's kind of pricey.
I really don't have that much money, to be honest.
But my car is MY LIFE. :)

Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

-Emma.

I got my car fixed and they had to repaint it. Well when I got the car back I noticed even after washing it looks like there is paint on the two passenger side windows and on the stripping along with the window. I am guessing its just the paint dust and it dried seeing as how all that dust was on the inside of my car to. Would this be something I could do or should I call the body shop and tell them.

Bought a 1999 VW Jetta months ago, have a bank loan was in accident and it was totaled. Appraisal people came, decided to keep the car and just got check for $6000 bucks needs sign from me and bank. I'm still covered for insurance, if I go get it fixed, will I just pay the deductible or will it totally be out of pocket? They are also asking for the title, but I don't own the car so would the bank have it? I'm so confused!!

I have an 05 f150 its been about 3300 miles since i bought it. Its high enough for me to fit underneath it, so i was wondering do i need to jack it up? I rather not.. and also im 17, it seems pretty easy though and my dad will help me. What is a good oil for winter time? its not quite winter yet though so would it hurt the engine putting oil for winter while temperatures still hit 80 to 90 degrees?

My car's 'Service Engine Soon' light is on and it seems that the problem is the oxygen sensor(s). I ran a reading of the codes and it seems that the faulty o2 sensor is the sensor 1 (the closest to the catalylic converter). It seems that my car has three oxygen sensors (or four? some Infinitis have four), so should I change all of them or just the faulty one?

Thanks for your time!

My car is a '98 Infiniti i30

I'm trying to make it to my dad's house so he can have my car repaired. The entire cooling system is pretty much not working. I was planning on driving with the heater on since that seems to help. I am just scared of getting stranded half way there. I am waiting till night time so its cool and there will be no traffic.

I have the first Ford Taurus year model ever made! It's a 1983. Right now it's a little rusted with faded paint and a torn up interior. I want to restore it from the ground up so it will look like new again. It will cost over $10,000 USD. New paint, interior, powertrain, steering, suspension, brakes, rims, undercarriage. Everything.

I think the first Taurus was the prettiest modern Sedan there ever was. Don't you people agree? It's about as American as a car can get besides the Ford Model - T.

Aside from the Taurus I also what to aquire a restored Ford Model - A. I want to drive it daily. Do you guys think it makes a good daily driver or will it have trouble keeping up with traffic?

I have a 1992 honda civic lx and it has 126k mi, so i took it to get the timing belt and water pump replaced. But when i got it back, the engine was super loud (like a vacum leak) and there is some pinging when i accelerated from 2.5k to 3.5k rpm. Also, there is this "cricket" noise (from what ive read, i think it might be an ovetighten belt). What exactly is wrong with my car? Do i have to pay to do the whole job again? please help. suggestions are welcomed.

I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla VE and the right brake light is out, as well as the right half of that brake light that is inside the car back behind the backseat on that little shelf area. Does this mean there is a short of some kind, or should I be able to just replace the right brake light? Any idea how much if would cost to repair if it’s a short circuit?

I need to replace a resistor for my heater blower motor switch on a 1992 Ford F-150. I find sites that show other repairs but not this one. Doesn't even show in the Chilton's Manual I bought for the truck.
