The air conditioner in my car is not cooling, yes on the first day of spring my airconditioner decides to **** itself. So anyway I was told by the mechanic when I got a new compressor put in in 2005 that I wouldn't need to re-gas my a/c again.

Does that sound right, or have I misunderstood what was said to me?

Or could it be something more sinister?

Once my 2000 Trans Am warms up, it is knocking or pinging under moderate to high load. It runs fine when the motor's cold. I almost always use Shell 93 octane gas, and I have always used 5W30 or 10W30 synthetic blend oil. The car has 115k miles on it.

For cold starts, it runs about 60 lbs of oil pressure, dropping to 40 lbs when hot. Would low oil viscosity cause this noise?

Or could it be running a lean air to fuel ratio at higher temperatures? With good fuel and no engine trouble codes, how could that be?

Is there some other cause?

What will cause the tapping of a push rod/lifter to sound awfully loud for about 30 mins and the go away and back to normal then repeat again? On an 89 Ford Ranger 2.9 V6? I've been told that it's the lifters which I am going to change on that particular tapping pushrod. NOTE: I did take off the valve covers and looked at the pushrods to see anything unusual with the engine running which I did notitce that the one that was tapping was not totaly wet with oil like the others. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have a '98 GMC Jimmy and the a/c has gone out in it. When I took it in to be seviced, the technician said that I had a slow leak of the freeon (sp). I don't know if the leak was in the comprssor or a hose. I was just wondering if stop leak could maybe stop the leak. They recharged it, but after a couple of months it stopped cooling again. A "friend" said that he used stop leak in his and has been running cold ever since. Was he just pulling my leg beacuse I am female or is there something to this?

My radiator hose popped on my 95 accord while sitting at a stop light. I was going to change it awhile ago because the tube was bloated, but it eventually just popped on me. So my question... I put a new tube on and filled up the radiator with 50 coolant/ and 50 water... how come ever since I did this the radiator smokes??? Obviously I will take it into a mechanic but I was just what could be the problem.

my mechanic recently replaced the spark plugs and cbles on my 00 jetta 2.0. the spark plugs are under the cylinders, therefore he had to unscrew the cylinders, letting air go inside. after completing thr job, the engine vibrates, he said it's because of the air that entered the cylinders; which also caused the check engine light to turn on. so, is this true?

97 Toyota for runner -I "think" I have a dead battery -at least it happened in my own garage and didn't leave me stranded. But how can I make sure that is the problem? I am afraid some mechanic will sell me down the river and try to tell me it is something else, when all need is a new battery. UGH!
Super appreciate any help here. I have my own "Chilton" book -don't laugh! hahaha I managed to change my own oil the other day! Felt pretty proud of myself.

About a week ago or so, I noticed one of my tires looks slightly deflated. I wouldnt say it looks flat, just looks like it needs some air, like a basketball when you use it too much. It drove fine but last night after i drove for about 5 mins, i could feel something like wobbling a little bit so i stopped and put some air in it. I drove it 30 mins after that and it seemed fine and the tire looks fine today. I dont know if i should even bother trying to drive it to work, or just get a new tire. If it did have a slow leak, is it ok to drive for awhile till i goes low again??? How do you know the difference between your tire needing a little air, or if its flat? If there is a hole, its only deflating little by little to where you really cant tell. I need some advice. Thanks!

I really don't have any car smarts but I can follow directions carefully. My timing belt broke and I have to get a new one but it's going to cost like $600 for the belt AND labor. So I'm hoping to be able to do it on my own. Any advice or is there a link you could provide to tell me how to replace it? A book to guide me through it?

I have an 84 Chevy Citation X-11, I pulled out the engine due to its Crankshaft snapped by previous owner. I yanked the wiring from the car I Dropped a 3800 series 1 N/A from a 92 Regal in it but to make things easier I used 3300 components on the engine from a 91 Ciera. Everything 3300 converted was the ignition module, F. Injectors, Crank Sensor, Reluctor plates behind Harmonic balancer, entire engine wiring harness including computer and wiring through out the whole car front to back. It has taken a good deal of effort to pull it off.. But now I face a problem I nor anyone *including dealership mechanics* can figure out. When I start the car is shakes..not bad but enough to feel thru the car, it will smooth out to a degree but when you hit the gas the car bogs down badly. Fuel pump is working fine with correct pressure at regulator, Spark plugs are carboned but not fouled. Ignition module tested and good.. Only thing I can think of is F.injectors they came from a junkyard Ideas? TY

I just changed the oil in my GMC Sierra 2003 [1500]. I bleed the oil out, changed hte filter, and put in 5 quarts of oil in the truck. I turned the truck on and let it idol for five monutes. I then came back and saw there was some oil comming out of the cap and now theres smoke coming out of the engine. What could this possibly be? I put a new filter on it, lubed it and put it on tight. I did hte same for the cap.

Should i just go get it professionaly done and should it fix the problem? I used w5-30 catrol.

I dont know whats going on i start the car and everything is ok then when i give it gas it sputters like it wants to go but is having trouble with maybe not enough gas or something of this sort just not sure i have replaced the exhaust and spark plugs and i am still not having any luck. If anyone knows what the plaoblem could be please help me out with it. I also think it may be the Fuel Injectors but dont want to spend 300.00 on them without being sure. I did have them cleaned but that may not have helped. I also am thinking it may be the fuel pump but once again i dont want to spend 200.00 plus 5 hours on the car without being sure. So if anyone has any insight for me please help me out on either how to figure this out or maybe you had the same problem and know whats wrong. Please help me out.
