It does it in the am, then during the day, no noise. Today did it too throughout day. Rainy day. I had my power steering fluid checked, and the mechanic said all looked great. no other problems. he said it could be the moisture. is a saturn ion 2, 2004. is that true about the moisture you think? car has no problems. thanks!

My brother had a similar problem. The belt makes a whistling noise after 10 000 km he would change and it would go away and come back after 10-15k. He had a Sunfire. Seems like the rubber dries up... it had little cracks in it.

Sounds like a loose or worn drive belt on the power steering pump.

did he check the drive belt to make sure it wasn't slipping ?
