i change spark plugs, and da engine oil on my 94 buick lesabre -that engine require 4.3 quote -idid put 5 quote in it but now the car make a (pop) sound when i reveve da eng like it backfire-is that extra oil can make it do that -one funny style mechanic make me buy a stop leakn-burn oil product ,nothing change then tell me -it,s a valve that,s bad--the car did not use to make that noise before.what should i do

My car is overheating and stalling, and I want to check if the thermos-stat is sticking. Or else do any of you know what else it can be? There was a spray on my windshield, but checking I could not find any where that there was a leak.

Its a v8 305 and almost every time i start it up black smoke comes out the exhaust! i dont know what the problem is?? i just changed the catalytic converter and the muffler too???

I have a 15 h.p Kohler Command 1 cylinder which started backfiring after I replaced the air filter. It would run fine until under a load then start cutting out and backfiring. Just on a whim, I took the plastic cover off of the air cleaner assembly, leaving the air filter and the foam pre-filter on it, and I finished mowing without any problem. I know on some automotive carburetors, if the wing nut is overtightened, it will distort the air horn and cause a vacuum leak. Could this be a similar problem?

I accidentally bought two different spark plugs for my truck. both kinds are auto lights but the number is different on half the packeges( i bought four packs with two in each). do i have to get all the same spark plugs or would it make a difference?

my car died so i had it towed to a car repair shop where they looked it over and said that the transmission needed to be replaced. they gave me the option of a new transmission which would be more expensive or a used one. being a poor college student, i opted for the used one...which still costed me a little under $1000.. after the replacement, the car was running fine for about 2 weeks and it died again. since i had a warranty, they replaced it with another used one for free. 3 weeks later, my car died again and then they said that they looked the car over and that it wasn't the transmission that was making the car die. i'm not that familiar with cars...they said something like it was something that connected the engine to the transmission that was malfunctioning and if i don't get my engine replaced the same thing will happen to my transmission if i replace it again. i can't afford to replace the engine..can they do this?? what should i do?? any help will be great, thanks!!

I had a feeling the A/C unit was toast, so I kept the window down all summer due to the cost of fixing it. But as fall approches I turned on my heater on windshield defrost and it makes the same noise, but only on that setting, the vent and floor setting is fine. Could it have been the blower motor the whole time? If not I need some ideas so I can fix it.

I drive a 1990 dodge caravan
I left my headlamps on last night and when i tried to start the car this afternoon it would not start. I tried jumpstarting it but that didn't work. I've had electrical problems in the past (the car has shut off a couple times while i was driving) but those were due to blown fuses. I checked the fuses and they're all intact. Now I'm stumped. What's wrong with my car and how do i fix it?

I have a 1997 jeep grand cherokee zj. Gas is leaking from above the tank right where the fuel line connects to. I leave a trail of gas when i drive around. I noticed it a little while after i filled the tank. The tank may have been overfilled. Does anyone know how I could fix this? any help would be greatly appreciated.

the first question is on the chevy. i have a 350 in it, with an edelbrock carb. it runs great until i floor it. it blows out my valve cover gaskets. i was told to change the ccv valve. would i find the "CCV" (crank case vent)?

the second is on the ford. my power steering suddenly stopped. the there was no noise, the pump is still turning, i think, and the fluid level is full. i have no idea what it could be and really cant afford a new pump this week!!! please help. i dont have much time and really need atleast one

Whenever I accellerate my left front wheel makes a chirping dragging sound. When I break it sounds like the noise gets louder then when I come to a stop it subsides.My mechanic alreadyh told me I need new wheel bearings, i have alredyh fixed the axel barrings on the car, so I wanted to know could the noise be fixed possible because of bad break pads or something or if I just need to go ahead and replace the axe barrings too.

So let me get this straight. I have half a tank and I put in $10. Of course it won't fill it but i put the automatic shut off thing on. So when it gets to $9.70ish it clicks off. I shouldn't continue pumping till 10? Or I can? I don't understand the whole no topping off. Is it only for when you get a full tank of gas

I have dents in both front quarter panels and only the quarter panel. The damage doesn't extend any further. May be stupid question, but in fixing them, do the replace the panels and then I have to pay for a complete paint job for the car? (Never had body work done) Or can they match the paint without painting the whole car. What would you say a ballpark figure would be to have this done?

I start my car about every week or every other so it just doesn't sit there.. One time I drove it up and down the driveway and I heard my brakes make really loud screeching noises. I can't drive my car right now because my license is suspended so that's why I just drove it up the driveway. I just had all of my brakes replaced right before I lost my license. Why are they making so much noise now? Also.. I smell something funny now when I let my car run. Is my car all messed up now because it's been sitting there? I can't drive til February.. I have a 2004 Honda Civic and I don't want there to be any problems. Is there something more I should be doing to prevent problems?

everytime i ahve my central heating on - gasboiler, they tap adn creak. it sounds like a very loud clock ticking and it is so annoying becuase they do it about 35 times then stop for a few seconds then start again.
