i need to try something on this 4.3 vortec knocking noisy pig

i see some of your answers thanks guys. the knock is indeed lifters it is a problem with the 4.3 vortecs i have found out
it will fire up and be silent sometimes and other times the littles will rattle teribly.
its a oiling problem with the block so i wanna clean it out super good and try synthetic this time.....

By the indication you give....It won't help.

But yes it does if you do it right.

Add one quart.
High idle for 10 minutes. (DON'T DRIVE IT!!)

Drain, replace filter, refill, and you're done.

My dad swore by this method (he ran a gas station from the 50's through the 70's, old fashioned gas station, full service with a good shop, even did valve jobs). He did drive them though, about 5 miles, then changed the oil.

It will not solve the knocking, which is most likely a connecting rod bearing, not a valve lifter.

ATF was often used to loosen up sticky valve lifters via the methods described above.

Don't bother. It will not fix a knock.

In the future, change oil every 3K miles and you will NEVER need to flush out an engine.

the knock is a mechanical problem, and as far as oil goes read this page!
