I drive a 1990 dodge caravan
I left my headlamps on last night and when i tried to start the car this afternoon it would not start. I tried jumpstarting it but that didn't work. I've had electrical problems in the past (the car has shut off a couple times while i was driving) but those were due to blown fuses. I checked the fuses and they're all intact. Now I'm stumped. What's wrong with my car and how do i fix it?

You left the headlights on, the bat is dead, But with a dead dead battery, you need to take more time jumpstarting. let the battery charge for a longer time before trying again. Jumper cables do not have enough grip or surface area to jump a dead dead battery from zero, they just wont let enough amps thru to get to the starter being jumped..

Put the bat on a charger, or take more time with the jumper cables.

If you ran the battery completely down, it may take more than just a jumpstart to get it going. Crank the car you're jumping yours from and leave it running for about 10 minutes hooked up to yours. If that doesn't work you might try removing your battery and taking it to an auto parts store to have the cells checked. It may be totally dead.
