I'm trying to find the method to remove the motor through the hood of my 93 z28 rather than underneath. I don't have a lift and don't want to have to buy the manual only to find out it wants to pull it through the bottom. Thanks everyone.

I have put a rebuilt 1982 model 305 in my 89 s10 and Ive been having trouble keeping the battery up ? How many volts should it be getting ? Is it possible that my alternator is going bad ? If you need more info I will be glad to post more just ask. Thanks

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus purchased about 14 months ago with a transaxle problem. I had purchased a third party warranty and they denied the claim stating that a technical service bulletin had been issued for that problem. Sure enough, page 4, paragraph "D" of the warranty contract showed that technical service bulletins negated a claim, but there are over 200 on our car! Manufacturers issue them for problems that don't occur enough to warrant a recall. This helps service shops to more quickly and accurately diagnose common problems. But today, a mechanic at a tractor dealership told me that Ford would cover a repair needed if a technical service bulletin had been released. Can I get a Ford dealer to repair this for me at their cost?

Hi, my car is goofy!!!
My O/D light is flashing on and off, at times..

When its not flashing I have no 2nd gear, and it shifts to 3rd, which is hard to accelerate fast when switching from 1st. I have to let off the gas at 3,000 RPMs for the car to shift, or it will not shift, I can take it up to 5,000RPM's no shift (Unless I let off gas)

Now when the O/D light flashes, It shifts into second, but weak, and then 3rd, and I dont have to let off the gas.. 4th gear is also sometimes GOOD, and sometimes not, when the O/D light is off 4th gear works awesome 65mph at 2,100RPMs when the O/D light is flashing 65mph at 3,100RPMs..

I am getting no Check engine readings except Catalytic Convertor readings..

I did get Gear 2 and Gear 4 incorrect ratio, but I cleared codes, and there gone...

Confusing!

Also when I switch from Reverse to Drive the engine jumps..

Its not the exhaust manifold cos i have listened out for that several times.
Also, it doesnt give good acceleration between 50 and 65mph. Its fuel consumption is about 18mpg. Or does it have to do with my plugs? I use the normal single electrode plugs

Why do 'check/service engine lights come on for no apparent reason? And what issues might be going on with the vehicle or engine that are not easy to detect?

My 'check engine' light has gone off in the past because I left the gas cap loose. Even when rectifying this the light would stay on for a few days.

My light is on now but everything seems fine. It annoying.

Can it be turned off? Or do I have to wait for it to go off on its own? And what makes it go off on its own? Does the computer reset or something?

My car WAS running great...had no problems with it. Then all of a sudden it started this....

I drove for about 15 minutes. The car seemed fine. I came to a spot where traffic was stopped so I started to slow down. As soon as I put my foot on the brake, the car started to shake and shudder violently and it just DIED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!

Ok, so I put it in park. I started it back up (it started fine). I pulled the shifter back into drive and the car shut off again. I did this over and over. The car started fine everytime but as soon as I put it in drive it shut off.

I drifted it off of the road and sat there for about 20 minutes. I started it back up, put it in drive and it was FINE again.

I drove home, put my foot on the brake to stop at a stop sign and it did it AGAIN!!!! I waited another 20 minutes. Started it again and finally got it all the way home.

Does ANYBODY know what could be wrong?

The e-brake idiot light on my winter rat stays on when the brake is disengaged.
I've pulled the wire (just one wire, btw), which clips into the side of the switch, but the light is still on. I tried grounding the wire, no luck. I can't pull the fuse without disabling the other lights, and pulling the bulb would require dismantling the dash. Can any gearheads help me?

The car is a '92 Buick Century.

i was looking at A/C bypass pullies and they only have 1 for the 2.2L, i have a 2.4L Z24, also the belt connects only the alternator, the compressor, and the crankshaft so i dont see how i could put a smaller belt on and bypass the compressor. (look at fig. 8 on this site) http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/19/12/40/0900823d80191240.jsp what should i do? fixing the compressor isnt an option, too expencive.

Hi:

All of a sudden while driving, the card engine seemed to start making a different clunky noise, and the engine was really running roughly. This car has performed well over its life, and has had very few problems. I need to probably change the oil in it, and it is overdue. Any information about what might be the problem based on this description about this before I take it in would be very greatly appreciated.

We've tried all sorts of things to get the car to run, it wants to start and everything is in good condition, but the car won't start. We are down to the fuel pump or the chip in the key being broken. The gauges don't even budge either and I know I have gas in the car and an excellent battery and nothing flickers when I try to start the car, But the two lights that show up are the key light symbol and the fuel symbol. Its a 2000 Jeep Grand Cheeroke Limited.

Hello! I have a 1976 Chevrolet Corvette 350 L-48 4spd. I looked around the engine compartment and could not find the dipstick to check the transmission fluid! Also, my shifter has gotten a bit stubborn. It doesn't have much smooth free play to jiggle around in neutral anymore.. it has recently became like this. It also seems harder to switch between the left side of the gears (1&2), to the right side (3&4). Any insights would be great..maybe it needs some lube? I was considering purchasing a new shifter anyways, any suggestions? Thank you.

I have a 97 ford escort and it over headed the other day (the water pump went out) but when i checked the water the radiator had almost none but the reservior was still completely full. What could be causing the reservior to not kick in and put water in the radiator?

i want to add more power and im thinking maybe a 270 cam not too smart on mechanic work and whats the difference in solid flat tappet cams,hydraulic roller cams,and non roller as you can tell i dont know much about it im trying to fix up a 1958 chevy truck at a affordable price but the 307 is out of a 68 chevy right now it has a 2 barrel but i have a 4 barrel holley to put on i just need to know what kind of intake and cam is recommended

When i turn the wheel while going over 50 i hear a rattle.If the wheel is straight i hear no rattle.The car pulls a little so even a little to keep it straight i hear a sort of rattle a little shake.If i make a big turn nothing.If i am going below 50 i hear nothing.its a fast rattle and consestant rattle,soon as wheel is straight nothing.Also on passenger side just replaced the tire was rattling before i replaced it,but the tire belts where worn out on the very outside and the very inside to the point they were splitting.Any ideas where to start to troubleshoot will be helpfull.

Sometimes when starting a 1990 Camaro with V6 the starter sounds like it is dragging.Other times it doesn't make noises and some times it won't start at all. Changed starter but with same results.
Dealership says it my be a sensor of some sort. If so what sensor can control the starting system?
Could it be the ignition switch/security key system?
Also it seems the battery runs down after sitting for three or four day's. Changed battery and alternater. Could a radios memory run it down that fast?

During a couple of months of leaking and then during a repair to fix it, I put in Prestone power steering fluid into my 97 geo prism's(toyota corolla) power steering reservoir. Later I noticed that the cap says to use dexron ATF fluid (oops). Will this be a problem? Do I need to do anything? Thanks
